Biblical and Book of Mormon Studies
A long time student of the Bible and the Ancient Near East, I am currently a full-time Institute instructor in Boston, MA, and an LDS Chaplain at Harvard University. I hold an MA in Ancient Near Eastern and Judaic studies and am in the final, albeit eternal stages of completing a doctorate in Hebrew Bible and the Ancient East from Brandies University. As a student of the Bible, I take a Historical-Critical approach to the development of the collection and attempt to interpret the work in its ancient Near Eastern context. I completed doctoral exams in Hebrew, Akkadian, and Northwest Semitics and have a deep interest in all areas of Near Eastern study. As a Latter-day Saint, I enjoy reading the Book of Mormon through the lenses of ancient Near Eastern/Biblical culture and drawing connections as a means of interpreting the text. This website is devoted to sharing with others some of those observations, as well as a few of my official publications in the field. Thank you for visiting. --David Bokovoy
